CYCI #131

Hey, everyone! Hope you had a terrific weekend! I am so so so happy to finally announce that I will be with CanYouCaseIt? as part of their design team! I started entering in the weekly challenges at CYCI a little while back and the amazing Eva asked me to join! This is my first card as a DT member and I am so happy I get to share it with all of you! Here is the challenge- Grays, Yellows, and Black!

I seriously fell in love with this combo and had a few ideas for the color challenge. But I managed to narrow it down to this design. Even though it is a color challenge, I wanted to still keep my card fairly clean and simple.

I started by stamping and die cutting some beautiful florals from W+9’s Doodle Buds stamp set. I used Versafine since I wanted to watercolor them in. I love the more graphic look of these stamps because they really allow you to color them in however you want to. I used a yellow and gray water color marker to get the challenge colors onto the card. After they were all dry I placed them onto my card using  a combination of foam tape and liquid adhesive. I used one of the sentiments from the same set on the front of the card and left the inside blank. As a final touch I added some Wink Of Stella to the yellow parts of the florals to add just a little sparkle since it was such a CAS design. I really loved how it turned out and can’t wait to send it off!

I really hope that you enjoyed my card and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me as a design team member at CanYouCaseIt?! It is such an honor to be selected after only a year of card making! I have truly found out why everyone says that this community is so wonderful! Thanks again, Eva and everyone else at CYCI?! Hope you get a chance to head over and join in on the fun! And don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook and follow the blog!

Congratulatory Florals

Hi, crafty friends! I’m here this morning sharing a lovely wedding card I have made for one of my friends who is getting married on Saturday! I wanted to keep it very classy and elegant but still add some sort of masculine element to suit both the bride and groom! I used inspiration from AAA Cards, Muse Challenges, and TGIF Challenges!

image.jpeg

I started by stamping one of the florals from the  Doodle Buds, which mimic the Muse card, set from W+9 three times with Versamark ink. Then I covered them with some some clear/glitter embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I watercolored them with my Zigs (my new stash favorite) and die cut them out. I used foam dots to pop them up on an A2 sized white card base. For the sentiment, I used my label maker to spell out “congrats” and popped that up with foam tape. This was a simple card but I love the impact those florals give along with a bold sentiment. Hopefully my friend and his bride-to-be will enjoy as well! Here are links to all three challenges!

Muse: Christmas Visions

Hello, everyone!!! I am so glad to be  the guest designer this week at Muse: Christmas Visions! HUGE shoutout to Ardyth for asking me to be a guest designer! If you haven’t checked out their blog you need to ASAP! It’s all about Christmas!!! Here is my Muse card for this week!

image

I made this card using Lawn Fawn’s adorable Toboggan Together stamp set! The cute little penguin makes me smile everytime! I started by die cutting a window onto my card base. I saved the negative and started stamping my scene. I used masks on top of the images and for a snowy hill so I could ink blend my background. I really wanted to make it look like a cool winter’s sky so I used blue and purple. After coloring in the images with my Zigs I popped up the circle onto the inside of my card so it lines up with the window on the front of the card. I added a simple black sentiment to the front to finish it off.

I really hope you get a chance to play along with the challenge this week! It’s such a great challenge and an awesome community!

Winter Alpaca

Hello! Today I wanted to share a super fun shaped card that I made! It was inspired by the Muse: Christmas Visions challenge as well as the theme at Addicted to Stamps and More! Here’s Cornelia’s Muse card-

image.jpeg

I really loved how the tree wasn’t green! Nontraditional colors are one of my favorite things when it comes to Christmas cards. So I decided to make all my trees different colors on my card! Hope you enjoy!

image

I started by partial die cutting the largest stitched circle die from Scrapping Cottage. Then I did another partial cut with the smallest circle to make it look like an ornament. Then I stamped the trees using ombre inks from Let’s Color. I used a sticky note as a mask. I stamped the alpaca on a separate piece and watercolored it in using my Zigs. Then I die cut it out and popped it up on the card front. I cut out another large circle and added it to the back of the stamped piece to make it into a card. Initially, I wanted to make a tag but I couldn’t find my hole punch! Finally, I stamped the sentiment as glued on a silver bow.

CYCI #130

Hey, crafty friends! There is a brand new challenge over at CanYouCaseIt?! It’s a great one to play along with because there is a sketch AND a theme this week!!! Bonus fun! For my card, I used the “Happy Birthday” theme as well as incorporating the random circles from the sketch. But instead if circles, I used mushrooms! Because is a gnome card really a gnome card without a shroom or two? Or thirty?!

image.jpeg

I used the usual plain white cardstock for the base and layered on a gray panel. I initially was going to stamp the background with Versamark to give it the tone-on-tone but it wasn’t dark enough. So I used Pumice Stone Distress Ink instead and it worked perfectly. After stamping all the mushrooms, which took a while because I only have one acrylic block, I started ink blending. I used a blue and purple ink to blend a sky backdrop for the little gnome. I die cut the blended background with a stitched circle die as well as a black frame to add some contrast. I glued the frame to the circle and then onto the card. Next, I stamped and watercolored the star of show- the gnome! I love the colors on him! The cool colors mixed with gray might be my new go-to colors. I did some really simple watercoloring with my Zigs and a water brush and colored in his skin with a trio of Copics. Sadly, I don’t own the matching dies so I fussy cut him out and popped him up with some foam dots. For the sentiment, I knew I wanted to use a birthday greeting. I only have a couple “Happy Birthday”s and they didn’t work. So I made my own with my label maker. I used black to tie it in with the black frame. This was such a fun card to put together!! Hope you all get a chance to play along with CYCI? this week! Here is a link to the challenge and a supply list!

Rough, Tag, and a Sketch

Hi, everyone! With my crafty time running out this weekend I combined a few challenges on one card. And I think it came out great! Links will be at the end of this post.

image.jpeg

After making ing a few cards without a Crazy Bird on them I had to break them out again. I’m addicted to Crazy Birds, so I stamped one onto a tag die cut and colored him in with my Zigs. I love how you can color these guys anyway and any color and they still turn out awesome!! I popped the tag up with some foam dots onto a white card base that I ink blended first with some yellows and oranges. I didn’t want it to distract from the tag so I used a very soft coloring on the blending. Then I white heat embossed a simple “HELLO” from the same Crazy Birds set and popped that up also to add some rough texture. I wasn’t going to add any twine or string to the tag, but then I found some really fun gold thread and tied it onto the tag to finish the card.I absolutely love how the three challenges worked so fantastic together on this card. If you haven’t played along yet- you should!!! Here they are:

Like Gnome One Else

Hi, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been around so I thought I would double up on challenges today! I used the colors from Color Throwdown and the sketch from MFT. These are 2 of my favorite challenges and the combo of the two made a rockin’ card!

image.jpeg

I started by ink blending some Distress Ink onto white Cardstock, then die cut it with a stitched circle die. I also cut a white frame. Then I stamped and colored in the adorable gnome from MFT with my Zigs and Copics. I really wanted the orange boots and green hat to POP off the card so I used very toned down blues and purples on the gnome’s clothing. After fussy cutting him out, I popped him up with foam dots onto the circle and glued it down into the card base. For the sentiment, I used Versamark and white embossing powder on some black cardstock. When I heat set the powder, the paper warped just slightly. I loved the look of it so I only glued down the middle portion and left the ends curled up off the card. This was one of my most favorite cards to make! Here are links to both challenges as well as a list of products I used!

Crazy Bird Panels

Hi, friends! In here with a quick post featuring more Crazy Birds from Tim Hltz for this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge! Hope you enjoy!

image.jpeg

i started by stamping the birds randomly into some white cardstock. Then I used my Zigs to watercolor them in, trying to use a bit of a softer palette. Then I let it dry and cut it into panels to mimic the sketch. I popped them up with foam tape onto a price of green gingham paper then tied a bow with some black twine. Finally, I white heat embossed the sentiment onto some black cardstock and popped those up as well. Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #129

Hello friends! The wonderful ladies over at Can You Case It? have a brand new color challenge for us to play along with this week! Pink, dark blue, and neutrals are the colors. I love color challenges because I would have never thought to use this combo on a card!

image

I wanted to try a square card today and this layout was perfect for it! I started by adding a strip of tan washi down the left side of the card. Then I did lots of stamping and  diecutting with W+9’s Doodle Buds. I watercolored the images using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I didn’t have a tan color so I mixed an orangish yellow with gray and somehow got a perfect match to the washi! I also layed down a wash of the tan color on some cardstock so I could diecut the sentiment that would coordinate perfectly. After everything was cut and colored I glued down the elements using liquid adhesive and one piece of foam tape on the top flower. I added some shimmer to the “Hello” and portions of the florals.

Here is a look at the challenge! Hope you have a chance to play along this week at Can You Case It?

Crazy Birds!!!

Hey, friends! I’m back with another card tonight! This time I used Crazy Birds from Tim Holtz!!! I have been wanting to get my hands in these every since I saw them! Thankfully, my friend Tim got them for me for my birthday! So thankful for how wonderfully kind the card making world is!!!

The current challenge over at Taylored Expressions’ Share Joy Challenge is a sketch and theme challenge. I chose to use the theme- CAS. Hope you like it!

image.jpeg

I started by stamping my favorite crazy bird onto a white A2 sized card base. I colored him in using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. Then I stamped the sentiment in black. This was a super quick card but I totally love the end result.

If you haven’t had a chance to head over to TE here is a link to the challenge:
