Inspired by Gingerbread

Hey, everyone! Even though Christmas is almost upon us, I still found time to make one more Christmas card! I used the photo from Inspired By All The Little Things challenge-

IMG_6129.PNGI really love how the small amount of red pops off the photo. So for my card I decided to use kraft and white as the main focal point and red in the background. I love these types of challenges because everyone interprets them differently! Here’s my take!

img_6126

I started by using a MFT background stamp to give my red card base a wood grain affect. I used white ink from SSS but it gave a more light pink color instead of the red. This would have been a perfect time to use a Stampoholic or the MISTI. I only have the Nano so the large stamp didn’t fit. Anyways, then I used a scalloped rectangle die from Craftin’ Desert Divas to cut some kraft colored paper. I used an image from Neat & Tangled as the focal point. I heat embossed it in white. It didn’t fill in completely so I filled in the empty spots with a white gel pen! Finally, I punched a small hole and tied some striped ribbon onto the card. Thanks for stopping by and have the merriest of Christmases!

CTD #423

Hi, everyone! I’m back with another entry for the Color Throwdown! This week’s colors are red, hot pink, and lime green!

swatch423.jpg

These colors work great for Christmas but also for Valentine’s Day! It’s crazy that we’re already thinking of Valentine’s Day  and it’s not even Christmas yet! But anyways, here’s my use of the colors! Enjoy!!!

phonto-2.jpg

I started by stamping the cat from Newton Nook’s Sweater Weather and cut it out with the coordinating dies. I used a few Copic marker’s to color it in. Then I stamped the sentiment onto a die cut rectangle (Kat Scrappiness Double Stitched Rectangles) and popped it up on the card base in which I stamped a few brush marks int he challenge colors. I love how colorful this card is yet it’s very clean and simple. Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #143

Hi guys! Boy do I have something special for you all today! CanYouCaseIt? is having 3 week challenge! This gives you all loads of time to link up to the current sketch challenge! Here it is-

14753669_10210210178026309_3278394588199647614_o

This sketch lends itself to so many styles! I decided to go fairly clean and simple with my take, but with lots of lecture and dimension. I might try some more designs with the sketch, too. I was thinking of making the square a shaker! But, anyways, here’s my take on the sketch!

img_6107

I started by using an embossing folder on my white A2 sized card base. I decided to rotate the embossing folder so it only embossed the middle section of my card, leaving about an inch unembossed on the top and the bottom of my card. This helps bring more interest to the center of the design where my main focus is.

I swapped out the square shape of the sketch and used a tag instead. I used a really old Sizzex die, like the really thick ones, for my tag shape. Then I created a homemade stencil using a cloud border die from Mama Elephant. I used Peeled Paint Distress Ink to do some blending to create a soft cloudy backdrop to my scene.

Frosted Fairy Friends from Lawn Fawn was the set I decided to showcase on my card. I Copic colored all the images using some markers my crafty friend Linda sent me earlier this month. Thanks Linda!!!!! I also used a white Gelly Roll pen to add some dotting detail to all the images.

I popped up the elements onto my tag and stamped a sentiment in Versafine. I also added a banner piece behind it to finish off my card as well as some brown and white baker’s twine on the tag.

I hope you guys like my take on the sketch challenge this week! There’s plenty of time to link up over at CYCI? and maybe you’ll be picked as a winner! Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

MFT Sketch Challenge

Hi, everyone! Today I’m sharing with you my card for the latest MFT Sketch challenge! Heres my card!

Next I stamped the Pure Innocence girl from MFT in SSS Intense Black and Copic colored her and the cat. Then I stamped the sentiment and a few paw prints and added some enamel dots to finish it off.

Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with Kat Scrappiness

Hey, guys! Today I am sharing a few tags on behalf of Kat Scrappiness for the Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I was not able to participate in the fall hop so I was very excited for this time around!

IMG_5981.JPG

I started by die cutting three tags with the second smallest sized Double Stitched Rectangle dies from Kat Scrappiness. Then I used the Stampoholic Nano to stamp the cup and and sentiment from Waffle Flower’s Warm Wishes stamp set. Then I used a trio of Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to make the backgrounds. I used plenty of water to get the soft fade on the tags. I used a gray marker to add some shading tot he cups as well as the steam and to ground the images. Finally, I tied on some black and white baker’s twine to the top of the tags after hole punching them. These will work great for tying onto hot cocoa gifts or Starbucks coffee mugs. Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to check out the other stops on the blog hop!

Give Me Some Space

Hi everyone! Here with a quick post for the latest CASology challenge! The cue word was SPACE and here is how I interpreted it.

IMG_6048.JPG

I went for a more graphic style this time around and really kept it clean. I started with a white card base and used Concord & 9th’s Perfectly Penned stamp set to stamp out the sentiment. Then I popped up the cut out spacebar and free hand traced around the edges with a fine point Sharpie. And that was it! I love this card just not sure if there is an occasion to send it hahaha…

Here’s the challenge!

Channeling Tenia Nelson

Hey all! I’m sure you all have heard of the wonderfully talented Tenia Neson, but if you live under a rock, here is the link to her blog!

http://jazzypaper.blogspot.com

She is honestly the COOLest card maker I “know.” Her style is so unique and so awesome. Whenever I see one her cards I know it’s hers without even seeing her name! Tenia is the guestie over at (CAS)E This Sketch and I wanted to play along. So I channeled my inner Tenia and tried not to put her name to shame too bad haha. I am also linking up with the AAA Card Challenge and Inspired By All the Little Things challenge.Check it!

IMG_6045.JPG

I started with a kraft colored card base and added a couple strips of washi tape. Then I trimmed down a a black piece of card stock and stamped the sentiment repeatedly with white ink from SSS. Then I cut out the word “awesome” from red card stock. I stacked up four die cuts and added some Wink of Stella on top. The die and stamps are from W+9. As a finishing touch I added a sprinkling of Kat Scrappiness sequins. I love the Shimmer sequins- they have the most amazing texture to them. I pulled the black sequins from cat’s Pumpkinlicious mix.

Thanks for stopping by!

CYCI #142

Hello everybody! It’t time for another CanYouCaseIt? color challenge! This week’s colors are eggplant, silver, and neutrals.

14691952_10210210299429344_8973578151247406308_o.jpg

I love that Wynn chose these colors this week because I have been using an awful lot of red and green lately. This was a great way to use some other colors. Here is what I came up with!

IMG_5982.JPG

I decided to use this super cuddly alpaca from Lawn Fawn for my image this week. I colored it in with my Copics and a couple Zigs. Then I die cut it out and popped it up onto a panel that I silver heat embossed and ink blended on. I used Shaded Lilac and Picked Raspberry. Then I popped that panel up onto my card base. I used only Shaded Lilac for the card base. I tried to off set the top sentiment…but it didn’t come out too good, but still definitely a super fun and colorful card!

MFTWSC #309

Hey guys! I’m here to share with you the card I made for My Favorite Thing’s Wednesday Sketch Challenge #309.

I was extremely inspired by Vika’s DT card (shown above) this week. I loved how she used the circle frame and created her own patterned paper. Here is my interpretation of the sketch!

IMG_5980.JPG

I started with a white panel cut slightly smaller than my card base and popped up a strip of woodgrain paper from SU! Then I added another rectangle piece, this time vertically. Next I added my circle frame which was made from 2 stitched circle dies. I also added the gnome holding flowers from MFT’s You Gnome Set. I colored in the image with my Copics and tried to match the colors to my papers. Finally, I stamped the sentiment using the Stampoholic Nano because I wanted to do some double stamping with Distress Inks. First I used Mowed Lawn and then Mustard seed. Together, they made the lovely grassy green to match the green paper. Thanks for checking out my card!
