Newton’s Nook Valentine

Hi, guys! It’s time for my final guest post for Newton’s Nook! Check it out!

I stamped the background in a soft pink with one of the snowflakes from Beautiful Blizzard. Then I used a die as a backdrop to the most adorable little Newton from the Sweater Weather stamp set. A strip of Valentine’s Day patterned paper finished it off. Thanks for checking it out! And a HUGE THANK YOU to NND for having me! Have a great day!

CYCI #145

15289241_10210699082448614_7165042225268647075_o.jpgHey friends! It’s time for another color challenge from CanYouCaseIt?! Eva chose some awesome colors this week! They would be perfect for winter birthday card, but I chose to go with a nontraditional colored Valentine perfect for a friend or family member. Check it out-

I used the ink smooshing technique for the background and popped up the cutest little octopus from Lawn Fawn using some fun foam. I water colored him in with a gray Zig marker, but instead of plain water I mixed in some perfect pearls to make it silver. I did the same thing when I sprintzed on water for the backdrop. And the funny sentiment finished it off.

I was EXTREMELY inspired by Francine’s card below. I didn’t get the same amazing background as she did but it turned out nice. Here is a link to her card! Hope to see you playing along with us! Have a great day!

CAS Valentine

Hi, guys! Today I’m sharing this CAS Valentine’s Day card. I used inspiration from MFT’s Sketch Challenge, Color Throwdown, and CASology. Check it out!

IMG_6359.JPG

I started by stamping a red brushstroke from MFT onto a kraft card base. Then I stamped their woodgrain plank background onto gray card stock and used a Kat Scrappiness heart die to cut out a backdrop for my sentiment. The XOXO is a die from Lawn Fawn. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out these awesome challenges!

Sweater Weather Valentine

Hi, guys! It’s Kevin back with another card for NND! I decided to use the cutest little rabbit from the Sweater Weather stamp set for a fun wintery Valentine. Check it out!

I cut a mask using a heart die and inked on some Distress Inks using some soft colors. Then I Copic colored the sweet bunny from Sweater Weather. His little sweater features a snowflake but  masked it off and added one of the hearts instead to better suit a Valentine’s Day card. I completed it with a gray sentiment strip. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you next week for my last card as this month’s guest designer!

Gift Card Holder with Craftin’ Desert Divas

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to be posting my very first post as a member of the CDD Design Team! For my project today I decided to make a gift card/treat holder. I plan to insert a Starbuck’s gift card to give my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day, but you could definitely use it for some chocolates or anything else that fits inside. Check it out!

I’ve never made anything like this before, but it was super easy to do with the Fancy Frame Dies. I used the largest scalloped rectangle to die cut some heavy weight white card stock. Then I scored both of the short ends at 1 and 3/8 inches. This made them able to overlap so I could add some adhesive to secure the gift card. Then I stamped a sentiment and two of the ADORABLE coffee images on the front from the Coffee Break stamp set. I colored them in with my Zigs. I also took a blue Zig to color the scalloped edges to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my first posting! Have a great day!

CAS on Kraft for NND

Hi everyone! I’m here with another post for Newton’s Nook! This time I used the Sweater Weather stamps and dies. These images are perfect for coloring and making into a focal point on a clean and simple design.  Check it out!

The image on the left card was colored with Zigs on white card stock and placed onto a kraft card base. I used the smaller stamps from Sweater Weather to create the background pattern. For the card on the right I used kraft paper for the base and the image. I used some colored pencils to color in that adorable fox. For both sentiments I heat embossed with white powder onto black paper.

Thanks for checking out my second post as this month’s guest designer! Have a great day!

Mama Elephant for CYCI #144

Hi, guys! It’s time for another CanYouCaseIt? challenge!!! This week’s colors were picked by the very talented Rose. She chose a super fun combo for all of us to play along with. Check it out!

Aren’t those colors awesome?! Perfect for the “Melonizataion” challenge happening over on Instagram. I decided to use some new Mama Elephant goodies I received in the mail! The photo didn’t come out as good as I wish…but here it is!

IMG_6241.JPG

I stamped the AWESOME greeting in Versamark ink and white heat embossed it. Then I used Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistachio to do the ink blending over the sentiment. I added a few coordinating splatters, too. To ground the images I used Pumice Stone. Speaking of images, aren’t those rockstar pups ADORABLE?! You guys know I am a cat person but these dogs got me. I colored them with the challenge colors using Copics and popped them up on the card. I added some clear Wink of Stella to a few parts of the dogs to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by! And remember to head on over to CYCI? to play along with us this time around! Have a great day!!

Fusion’s 3rd Anniversary Challenge

Hey, everyone! Today I am here to share my card for the Fusion Card Challenge’s 3rd Anniversary! Here is the challenge graphic!

I decided to go with just the photo and chose a coffee theme as well as the color combo! I don’t make too many coffee themed cards but seeing everyone’s great inspirations I had to! Check it out!

I started by die cutting a couple different pieces. I used a Craftin’ Desert Diva’s scalloped rectangle die on the gray piece and Pretty Pink Posh’s Storybook 1 die on a piece of Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid-Winter paper and plain white card stock. Then I stamped a sentiment from Sion Says Stamp on the medium rectangle and a trio of coffee cups on the smallest panel. Then I used the cup from Waffle Flower on the largest space and colored it in using Copics. For a finishing touch I added three tiny little hearts from a Lawn Fawn set.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to play along if you haven’t already!
